Giants Eye Vita Vea as Trade Deadline Nears

The New York Giants are monitoring Tampa Bay lineman Vita Vea before the November 10 NFL trade deadline. Tampa Bay is not expected to trade him.
Published November 4, 2026. The Giants are looking at possible help on the defensive line and have kept tabs on Vea, an important part of Tampa Bay’s defense. The Buccaneers are not currently expected to move the veteran tackle, though the report said a deal would not be impossible if circumstances changed.
Vea sought a trade while pursuing a new contract after missing much of training camp. Tampa Bay responded with a one-year extension worth $30 million. His statistical production has been limited since signing, but his ability to occupy blockers remains valuable to a defense rated among the NFL’s top three by many advanced measures.
Tampa Bay began the season 0-4 and stood at 2-5 entering Week 8, raising the prospect that it might sell players before the deadline. The team is now 3-5, half a game behind the NFC South lead, and remains in contention. Its next game is against the Chicago Bears on Sunday night. A win could strengthen the case for keeping Vea; a loss might prompt general manager Jason Licht to consider offers, including one from New York.
