Goff, Mahomes and Love Lead Week 9 Quarterback Starts

DolphinsJets

Fantasy managers are urged to start Jared Goff against Miami and Patrick Mahomes against the Jets in Week 9, beginning November 5, 2026. Injuries and quarterback changes also leave several less dependable options for Superflex and two-quarterback leagues.

Jared Goff is expected to rebound from his season-low 11.1 fantasy points against Minnesota when Detroit faces Miami in Week 9. The Dolphins have allowed at least 26.5 points to each of their past three opposing quarterbacks, while Goff had reached 20.4 or more in his first six games this season before last week’s dip.

Patrick Mahomes is another recommended start after scoring 31.4 points against Denver. He is averaging 26.6 points in games when Rashee Rice has played, and the Jets have given up at least 29.9 points to each of their past three opposing quarterbacks. Jordan Love is also viewed as a top-10 option: he scored 27.5 points in Week 8 and faces a New England defense that has allowed an average of 20.5 points to quarterbacks over its past six games.

Matthew Stafford could bounce back against Washington after managing 10.3 points against the Chargers. He has arm soreness to monitor, but Washington has been a favorable matchup for opposing quarterbacks. Kirk Cousins is also recommended despite a tougher matchup at San Francisco; he has scored at least 22.5 points in six of the season’s eight games and at least 24.4 in each of three recent difficult matchups.

Injury replacements make the position unusually uncertain. Gardner Minshew is the preferred emergency choice after scoring 25.5 points in the second half against Dallas, though he faces Seattle. Carson Wentz could start if Kyler Murray is unavailable, while Shedeur Sanders may replace Deshaun Watson. Tanner McKee and first-time starter Joe Fagnano are considered risky, even with McKee facing the Giants. Fagnano takes over with Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley both out; he threw for 91 yards and an interception after entering last week’s game.

Players: Matthew Stafford, Kirk Cousins, Carson Wentz, Jared Goff, Deshaun Watson, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Kyler Murray, Gardner Minshew, Tyler Huntley, Jordan Love, Tanner McKee, Rashee Rice, Shedeur Sanders, Joe Fagnano
