Jets Rally From Four Down to Set NHL Comeback Record

The Winnipeg Jets overcame a 4-0 deficit against the Montreal Canadiens at Montreal’s Bell Centre on November 3, completing the comeback in overtime. The Canadiens’ late collapse was the largest in NHL history.
Montreal appeared to have the game settled, leading Winnipeg 4-0 with fewer than three minutes remaining in the third period at the Bell Centre on November 3. Instead, the Jets scored four times to force overtime, then won the game there and set a new NHL mark for the largest comeback from a deficit.
The turnaround came after the Canadiens had held a four-goal advantage so late in regulation that the outcome seemed secure. Winnipeg’s four goals erased that lead before the game went to the extra period.
Montreal still had an opportunity in overtime to avoid the record-setting defeat, but the Jets completed the comeback. The game was a regular-season contest in November, yet the size and timing of the rally made it an extraordinary result.
