Detroit hosts Chicago on October 29 after beating Edmonton in a shootout, while injuries leave the Red Wings without Albert Johansson and keep Marco Kasper and Mason Appleton out.

Detroit's Red Wings welcome the Chicago Blackhawks to Little Caesars Arena on October 29, looking to build on a 4-3 shootout win over the Edmonton Oilers. The game is the first meeting between the teams this season, and is scheduled for October 29, 2026.

Detroit's record stands at 5-4-3, including 3-3-1 on home ice. The team collected five of eight possible points on a recent four-game road trip and have gone 5-2-3 over their last 10 games, scoring an average of 2.9 goals per game. Chicago is 4-8 and has lost all four of its road games. The Blackhawks are 4-6 over their last 10, averaging 2.4 goals.

Detroit defenseman Albert Johansson will miss the game after sustaining an undisclosed injury against Calgary on October 24. Forwards Kasper and Appleton are each expected to be about two weeks away from returning. Their absences have opened playing time for younger players, including William Wallinder, Anton Johansson, Emmitt Finnie and Michael Brandsegg-Nygard.

There was more encouraging news for Detroit: coach Todd McLellan said center Dylan Larkin is expected to play after taking a maintenance day, and goaltender Daniil Tarasov returned to practice. Rookie Michal Postava made his first start in the win over Edmonton.

Viktor Arvidsson leads Detroit with five goals and five assists, while Kane has contributed one goal and seven assists to Chicago. The Blackhawks also list Ryan Ellis as out for the season with a back injury and Bowen Byram as day to day.
