Alex Tuch scored twice as Washington defeated Philadelphia 5-2 in Washington on October 28, extending the Flyers’ losing streak to three games.

Alex Tuch scored early and added an empty-net goal late as the Capitals beat the Flyers 5-2 on October 28 in Washington. The win gave Washington four victories in five games during its homestand; Philadelphia has now lost three in a row, including an overtime game against Columbus on Tuesday night.

Tuch’s first goal came 1:50 into the game, when he finished a rebound from the slot. He has scored nine times in his first 11 games with Washington, a mark reached by only one other Capitals player: Dino Ciccarelli, who had 12 goals in his first 11 appearances in 1988-89.

Jordan Kyrou also scored twice for Washington, and Aliaksei Protas netted his first goal of the season. Dylan Strome recorded three assists, while Jack St. Ivany and Pierre-Luc Dubois each collected two. Goaltender Logan Thompson stopped 23 shots after sitting out Saturday because of an injury to his lower body.

Philadelphia’s Matvei Michkov found the net for the ninth time this season, his fifth power-play tally. Sean Couturier tied the game early in the second period, and Joseph Woll made 25 saves. Tuch’s final goal came on a breakaway against the Flyers’ six-skater attack.

Philadelphia is scheduled to host Utah on Sunday. Washington visits Nashville on Thursday night.
