Lakers Assign Thiero to G League as Knee Improves

The Lakers assigned forward Adou Thiero to their G League affiliate on November 4 as he moved closer to returning from left knee swelling. Coach JJ Redick said Thiero was “trending in the right direction.”
Thiero was assigned to the Coachella Valley Lakers before Los Angeles played the Sacramento Kings. The second-year forward has not played since appearing in the Lakers’ first three preseason exhibitions, and could make his season debut later this week, Redick said earlier in the week.
Los Angeles hosts Portland on Friday, then begins a road trip against Detroit on Sunday. The Detroit game is the first of back-to-back contests, with the Lakers scheduled to face Atlanta on Monday.
Thiero, a 6-foot-8 forward, has been sidelined by swelling in his left knee. The same knee underwent surgery in spring 2025. The swelling led the team to pause his on-court work for a few days before gradually increasing his activity. He was also absent from camp, the exhibition schedule and the opening 13 regular-season games.
Redick said Thiero had taken part in some live practice situations. He was the only Lakers player listed on the injury report before the Kings game.
