Kansas Opens at Home With 30-Point Win Over Fordham

Kansas beat Fordham 95-65 in its regular-season home opener at Allen Fieldhouse on November 2, with Tre White scoring a game-high 22 points.
Kansas extended its streak of winning regular-season home openers to 54 years, defeating Fordham 95-65 before the Allen Fieldhouse crowd on November 2. All 15 Jayhawks saw playing time in the 30-point victory, which followed a preseason slate featuring several highly ranked opponents.
Tre White paced Kansas with 22 points and made three three-pointers. In his second season with the program, he provided scoring and a steady presence when the Jayhawks faced difficult stretches.
Trey Kaufman-Renn made his Kansas debut with nine points, five boards and a block. He also hit a three-pointer. The performance offered an encouraging start for the former Purdue player, who came off the bench.
Kansas’ highly regarded freshmen had uneven outings. Tyran Stokes made four of seven free throws and committed four turnovers, while Taylen Kinney connected on one of five attempts from the field. The team also had 17 turnovers, one more than Fordham, and struggled at times to organize its offense as the shot clock ran down.
The win gives Kansas a chance to build rhythm before its next game against Middle Tennessee State. That matchup will precede the Champions Classic.
