Kentucky Forecast to Finish 24-8 or 25-7 in Pope’s Third Season

Kentucky opens its 2026-27 men’s basketball season against Manhattan at Rupp Arena on November 3, with three projections putting the Wildcats’ regular-season record at either 24-8 or 25-7.
Mark Pope’s Kentucky Wildcats begin their 2026-27 campaign by hosting Manhattan at Rupp Arena on November 3. Three season forecasts see the team finishing with either 24 or 25 wins, with all three projecting two nonconference losses and a strong run through SEC play.
Andrew Stefaniak predicts a 24-8 regular-season record, including a 12-2 nonconference mark and a 12-6 record in the SEC. His expected nonconference defeats are against Kansas and Virginia. He sees the team improving as the season progresses and says fans would be pleased with that finish.
Wyatt Huff and Carson Nash both project Kentucky to go 25-7, with 12 nonconference wins and 13 SEC victories. Huff also picks losses to Kansas and Virginia, and expects Kentucky to take time to find its rhythm before a December win over Louisville. He forecasts road losses at Missouri and Texas, while predicting the Wildcats will sweep Tennessee and earn other conference wins.
Nash likewise expects defeats to Kansas and Virginia before SEC play. He anticipates Kentucky will protect its home court apart from a loss to Alabama, while facing difficult road tests at Missouri, Texas, Florida and Vanderbilt. Both 25-7 forecasts point to a team capable of improving through the season and contending in March.
