Cardinals Place Jeremiyah Love on Injured Reserve

Arizona will sideline first-year running back Jeremiyah Love after he sprained his ankle against Dallas on November 1. He is expected to miss four to five weeks.
The Arizona Cardinals are moving first-year running back Jeremiyah Love to their injury list after he suffered a high-ankle sprain during their November 1 win over the Dallas Cowboys. The injury is expected to keep him out for at least four weeks and could sideline him for five.
Love, the third overall pick in the draft, had already missed time this season with a separate ankle injury. He has played in six games, rushing for 268 yards and a touchdown, while adding 11 catches and a receiving touchdown. Against Dallas, he gained 23 yards on nine carries before leaving the game.
Tyler Allgeier took on a larger role after Love’s departure, rushing for 147 yards and a touchdown and catching five passes for 44 yards and another score. Allgeier has 323 rushing yards this season and is expected to lead Arizona’s backfield while Love is out.
Love could be eligible to return as early as Week 13. Arizona has a bye in Week 14, however, and a longer recovery could keep him out until Week 15. The Cardinals are 3-5 and are scheduled to visit the Seattle Seahawks in Week 9. Running back Bam Knight is also in concussion protocol, leaving Allgeier as the only running back currently on Arizona’s active roster.
