Rookie Joe Fagnano to Start at Quarterback for Ravens

Baltimore will start undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano against Jacksonville on November 5, after injuries sidelined Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley.
The Baltimore Ravens will turn to Joe Fagnano for his first NFL start when they host the Jacksonville Jaguars on November 5. Coach Jesse Minter announced the decision after Tuesday’s practice, with the team facing a short turnaround following its 36-10 loss to Buffalo on Sunday.
Jackson injured his right thumb on his first play back after missing three games with an ankle injury. Huntley took over but left with a turf toe injury. Minter said both quarterbacks were likely to go on injured reserve before the Jaguars game.
Fagnano, an undrafted rookie, entered against Buffalo as Baltimore’s emergency third quarterback. He completed 10 of 21 passes for 91 yards and threw an interception; he also lost a fumble. He injured his ankle during the game, but practiced Tuesday wearing a brace. Kedon Slovis and Austin Reed, both recently added to the team, will back him up.
Minter praised Fagnano for earning his roster spot through his opportunities in training camp and the preseason. Fagnano completed 74.7% of his preseason passes for 509 yards, with three touchdowns and one interception. Jacksonville arrives at 5-2 and is allowing 16 points per game, the second-lowest average in the NFL.
