Commanders Place Payne, Kinlaw and McNichols on Injured Reserve

The Washington Commanders placed defensive linemen Daron Payne and Javon Kinlaw and running back Jeremy McNichols on injured reserve on November 3, ahead of their game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Washington will be without all three players for at least four games after placing them on injured reserve on November 3. Payne and Kinlaw had already missed the Commanders’ Sunday night game against Philadelphia, while McNichols injured his foot during that matchup.
Payne is dealing with a Jones fracture suffered at practice on Friday, an injury expected to end his season. McNichols has a midfoot injury and is expected to miss significant time. He had only recently returned from injured reserve after missing the opening five weeks because of a quadriceps issue.
The losses leave Tim Settle Jr. and Shy Tuttle as available defensive tackles. Byron Cowart, who was elevated from the practice squad for the Philadelphia game, is not automatically on the active roster for the Rams matchup. Jer’Zhan Newton is still eligible for a 21-day period of practice and needs to be added to the roster to play.
Washington’s running back group is also short-handed, with Jacory Croskey-Merritt on injured reserve with a groin injury. On November 3, Washington took Robert Henry Jr. from Seattle’s waiver list; he had previously spent time on the team’s practice squad this season. Devin Neal and Craig Reynolds are other practice-squad options. Coach Dan Quinn said he was concerned about McNichols’ injury and noted the team would assess it with scans.
Players: Jeremy McNichols, Daron Payne, Tim Settle, Byron Cowart, Shy Tuttle, Craig Reynolds, Javon Kinlaw, Jer'Zhan Newton, Devin Neal, Jacory Croskey-Merritt
