The New England Patriots plan to open wide receiver Mack Hollins’ 21-day return-to-practice window on Wednesday, November 4, as he works back from a calf injury.

Hollins has been on injured reserve since Week 5 after hurting his calf the previous week against Buffalo. The Patriots’ move will let him practice while the team evaluates his readiness; they have 21 days to decide whether to activate him to the 53-man roster. It is the team’s third injured-reserve return designation of the regular season.

Before his injury, Hollins caught 15 passes for 209 yards in New England’s first four games. The 6-foot-4 receiver had taken on a larger role after A.J. Brown was injured in Week 1, contributing as both a target for quarterback Drake Maye and a leader among the younger receivers. Hollins has missed four games.

Coach Mike Vrabel said Monday that Hollins and fullback Reggie Gilliam could potentially return, but stressed that the team must assess their health and make roster moves if they are ready to play. New England has an open place on its 53-man roster after recent personnel changes, and Hollins could fill it ahead of the Patriots’ game against Green Bay. Other injured players, including safety Dell Pettus, guard Greg Van Roten, edge rusher Quintayvious Hutchins and linebacker Khalil Jacobs, are also eligible to return.

Players: Greg Van Roten, Mack Hollins, A.J. Brown, Reggie Gilliam, Dell Pettus, Drake Maye, Khalil Jacobs, Quintayvious Hutchins
