Vikings Urged to Explore a Justin Herbert Trade
An ESPN analyst urged the Minnesota Vikings to pursue Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert before the NFL trade deadline, in comments published November 4, 2026.
Aaron Schatz argued that Minnesota should make an ambitious attempt to acquire Herbert, even though the Chargers have given no indication that the quarterback is available. Schatz suggested a move could give the 28-year-old a chance to regain his earlier form under Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell.
Herbert’s season has been difficult: he has thrown five touchdowns and 10 interceptions for the winless Chargers. His quarterback rating, which had not fallen below 93.2 in any of his first six seasons, is now 69.3.
Minnesota is 6-1, with its defense helping drive the strong start. The Vikings rank 31st in passing offense, while Kyler Murray is averaging 6.6 yards per contest. Schatz’s proposal raised the possibility of Herbert throwing to Justin Jefferson in O’Connell’s offense.
A major deal appears unlikely. Dan Graziano said he had heard from teams that Los Angeles was not eager to enter a teardown before the deadline. He also said the Chargers did not appear open to trading players to teams that had made inquiries. The deadline is next Tuesday.
Players: Kyler Murray, Justin Jefferson, Justin Herbert
