Bengals Project DJ Turner to Miss Opening Practice in Madrid

On November 4, Cincinnati listed DJ Turner as a projected nonparticipant for its opening practice session in Madrid ahead of its game against Atlanta.
The Bengals’ opening injury report for their Madrid game projected cornerback DJ Turner, who is dealing with a heel issue, as a nonparticipant. Cincinnati did not hold a practice, so the designations indicate who would have taken part rather than recording actual attendance or participation. The projection leaves Turner’s status for Sunday uncertain.
Defensive end Cedric Johnson, with an ankle injury, and safety Kyle Dugger, dealing with a quad issue, were also projected not to practice. Cincinnati is preparing to face the Atlanta Falcons in Spain and is a slight betting favorite.
The team traveled earlier in the week to adjust to the six-hour time difference. Coach Zac Taylor said the international schedule compresses the week, making preparation before departure especially useful, while the team also hopes players can sleep during the flight and adapt after arriving.
Defensive end Cashius Howell will miss at least a month after being placed on injured reserve following wrist surgery. Taylor said he could not discuss all the medical reasons for the timing of the procedure, and that the team would continue gathering information as the season progresses.
Players: Kyle Dugger, DJ Turner II, Cedric Johnson, Cashius Howell
