Cardinals Near Deal to Send Jacoby Brissett to Ravens

On November 4, the Arizona Cardinals were expected to trade quarterback Jacoby Brissett to the Baltimore Ravens, who have lost two quarterbacks to injuries.
Arizona was preparing to move Brissett to Baltimore, with a deal expected in the coming days. The trade terms had not been disclosed, though the Cardinals were expected to receive a late-round pick, likely in the sixth or seventh round. Brissett would not arrive in time for Baltimore’s Thursday game against Jacksonville.
The Ravens’ need for a quarterback grew after injuries sidelined Lamar Jackson and Snoop Huntley. Brissett has worked with Baltimore quarterbacks coach Israel Woolfork, giving the team a veteran option.
Arizona had recently dropped Brissett to third on its depth chart. In the Cardinals’ Week 8 game at Dallas, he was replaced in the third quarter by Gardner Minshew, who led four consecutive scoring drives in an upset win over the Cowboys. Minshew was subsequently positioned to take over, while rookie Carson Beck could have a path to playing time.
Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur said the decision to bench Brissett was difficult and described the team’s struggles as a collective responsibility. Arizona had also obtained a second-round selection in exchange for Marvin Harrison Jr. in a trade weeks earlier. The NFL trade deadline is November 10, and Josh Sweat and Budda Baker had also been mentioned in trade speculation.
