Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said Sam Darnold will miss the Week 9 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals because of a quad injury. Drew Lock is set to start in his place at Lumen Field. Lock is also managing an elbow injury, and the team is monitoring how much he can throw. Jalen Milroe is Seattle’s backup quarterback for the game.
Lock previously started against Arizona this season, completing 19 of 26 attempts and throwing for 235 yards and three touchdowns during Seattle’s 31-7 win. He did not throw an interception and was sacked once. His season completion rate is 73%, with four touchdown passes and no interceptions; Darnold’s is 60%, with 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Arizona enters after an upset win over Dallas in Week 8 and is seeking its first consecutive victories of the season. The Cardinals have allowed at least 30 points in five of their past six games. ESPN’s Football Power Index gives Arizona a 17.9% chance of winning.
