Artturi Lehkonen scored twice and Cale Makar recorded four assists as Colorado beat Calgary 5-2 in Denver on October 31.

The Colorado Avalanche defeated the Calgary Flames 5-2 in Denver on October 31, led by two goals from Artturi Lehkonen and four assists from defenseman Cale Makar. Nathan MacKinnon scored once and added an assist, while Martin Necas and Brock Nelson also found the net. Mackenzie Blackwood stopped 25 shots for Colorado.

Colorado built a 4-0 advantage with three goals in the first 10 minutes of the second period. Calgary replied through Joel Farabee late in the period and Martin Pospisil early in the third, cutting the margin to two. Lehkonen redirected Makar’s shot at 4:09 of the third to restore the Avalanche’s three-goal cushion.

Calgary’s Arsenii Sergeev, making his second career start and first of the season, made 29 saves. He was called up from the AHL after Devin Cooley was sidelined by a lower-body injury. The Flames had played the previous night against Seattle.

Nelson left the ice after a shot struck the side of his helmet in the second period, but returned in the third. Colorado took no penalties, while Calgary was penalized three times. The Flames visit San Jose on Monday; Colorado travels to Chicago that night.
