Flyers fall to Wild as losing streak deepens
Philadelphia lost 4-2 at home to Minnesota on November 3, leaving the Flyers 4-9-4 and at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings.
The Flyers fell 4-2 to the Minnesota Wild at home on November 3, extending their struggles as they returned to the bottom of the Eastern Conference. Philadelphia is 4-9-4 and has gone nine games without a win; its goal differential stands at minus-21, while its shots-on-goal differential is minus-100, the conference’s worst.
Minnesota took a 3-0 lead. The opening goal came from the Wild’s top unit, with Kaprizov, Boldy and Eriksson Ek involved. A puck deflected off Porter Martone’s skate and into a dangerous area before the second goal. Early in the second period, a Flyers clearing attempt struck an official, keeping the puck in the zone for Minnesota’s third.
Philadelphia’s Trevor Zegras was ejected after reacting angrily to the official, and the Flyers took three consecutive penalties. They later generated more energy and finished with 25 shots on goal, two more than Minnesota, but also missed the net on 22 attempts. A late empty-net effort helped seal the result.
Coach Rick Tocchet said the team needed to protect the middle of the ice and acknowledged that the penalties disrupted its momentum. He also praised the players’ resolve. Travis Konecny said the team needed wins, despite seeing positives in its effort. The Flyers’ next challenge is turning improved stretches into results as their losing run continues.
