Boston Bruins forward Matt Poitras broke his nose during a November 2 shootout win over Vegas and returned to practice two days later. Defenseman Frederic Brunet could also return to the lineup after sitting out three games.

Matt Poitras broke his nose during Boston’s 3-2 shootout victory over the Vegas Golden Knights on November 2, but the Bruins forward was back at practice on November 4. He left the game after taking an elbow from Braeden Bowman, who received a major penalty and game misconduct. The NHL did not impose further discipline on Bowman.

Poitras had his nose reset on November 3 and practiced as a spare forward the following day. He returned to the bench during the game wearing a full face shield but did not play again. Coach Marco Sturm said Poitras would travel with the team to Pittsburgh for its November 5 game against the Penguins and might be available, depending on how he progressed. Sean Kuraly could take the fourth-line center role if Poitras is unable to play.

Defenseman Frederic Brunet may also be back in the lineup on November 5 after sitting out three straight games. The 23-year-old rookie has one goal and three assists in 10 games, but was scratched after a costly turnover in a 2-1 loss to Carolina on October 27. Brunet said watching from the stands helped him reflect on his play. Sturm said he had sat Brunet to protect him and give him a chance to learn from the mistake. Brunet has practiced alongside Mason Lohrei in recent sessions.
