Ravens Sign Austin Reed After Jackson’s Thumb Injury
The Baltimore Ravens brought quarterback Austin Reed onto the practice squad after Lamar Jackson injured his right thumb against the Buffalo Bills in Week 8 and was placed on injured reserve.
The Ravens added Austin Reed to their practice squad as injuries left the team short at quarterback. Reed had previously spent part of this year’s training camp with Baltimore, making the signing a return to a team he already knows.
Jackson injured his right thumb on Baltimore’s first offensive snap against Buffalo in Week 8. The injury requires surgery, and he has been placed on injured reserve; his season could be in jeopardy.
Tyler Huntley has also suffered an injury, prompting the Ravens to bring in additional quarterback depth. Reed has not played in an NFL regular-season game, so it remains to be seen whether he will get an opportunity to appear for Baltimore.
Before returning to the Ravens, Reed spent the 2024 and 2025 seasons on Chicago’s practice squad. He has also played for the Dallas Renegades in the UFL.
