Giants Extend Cornerback Greg Newsome II for Three Years

On November 3, the New York Giants agreed to a three-year, $46 million extension with cornerback Greg Newsome II, including $32 million guaranteed.
The New York Giants have finalized a three-year, $46 million deal to keep cornerback Greg Newsome II. The deal includes $32 million guaranteed, and extends the 26-year-old’s stay after he joined the team on a one-year, $8 million contract this offseason.
Newsome has appeared in six games for New York, recording 25 tackles, one interception and six passes defended. He has helped steady the cornerback group and has surrendered no touchdowns this season.
A first-round pick by Cleveland in 2021, Newsome spent part of last season with Jacksonville after being traded from the Browns. He signed with the Giants in March and said he wanted to establish himself with the team and hoped to remain there long term.
Newsome missed New York’s game against Houston with a concussion. He could be cleared to play in the Giants’ next game, a Sunday matchup against Philadelphia, if he passes the NFL’s concussion protocol. The extension also gives New York added flexibility with its roster and salary cap as the trade deadline approaches on November 10.
