The Los Angeles Rams released returner Alex Bachman on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, as they continue trying to improve their special teams ahead of Week 9.

Bachman had taken over as the Rams’ returner after the team released Xavier Smith earlier in the season. He averaged 5.2 yards on punt returns, ranking 31st among players with at least five returns, and 22.9 yards on kick returns, 62nd among 75 qualifying players.

The move followed Sunday’s game against the Chargers, when Los Angeles lost 3.6 in special teams expected points added despite allowing no long returns and missing no field goals. Bachman gained no yards on one punt return where room appeared to be available upfield.

The Rams have not identified who will take over. Jordan Whittington was the sole additional player named as a kick return option, while Konata Mumpfield was Bachman’s backup at punt returner. Running back Dean Connors, another potential option, was recently placed on injured reserve.

Los Angeles has made other special teams changes, including signing kicker Joshua Karty to help on kickoffs and adding special teams player Jon Rhattigan. The team also promoted cornerback Cam Lampkin from its practice squad, re-signed Nyzier Fourqurean to the practice squad and released linebacker Garrett Nelson from that squad.

Coach Sean McVay has said the team is dissatisfied with its special teams. The Rams are continuing to seek improvements, with a new returner potentially arriving this week.

Players: Alex Bachman, Jon Rhattigan, Xavier Smith, Garrett Nelson, Joshua Karty, Jordan Whittington, Cam Lampkin, Konata Mumpfield, Dean Connors
