Rams Lose Jaylen Watson for the Season After Shoulder Surgery

Los Angeles Rams defensive back Jaylen Watson is done for the season after shoulder surgery, coach Sean McVay said on November 4. The team plans to place him on injured reserve.
The Los Angeles Rams will be without cornerback Jaylen Watson for the rest of the season after he was advised to undergo shoulder surgery. Coach Sean McVay announced the decision on November 4 and said Watson would be placed on injured reserve for the remainder of the year.
Watson aggravated a dislocated right shoulder during the Rams’ win over the Los Angeles Chargers this past weekend. He had originally suffered the injury earlier in the season against the Denver Broncos. McVay said Watson had wanted to play through the injury, but surgery was recommended after consideration of the situation.
McVay called the loss significant and praised Watson’s play for the team. Watson signed a three-year, $51 million contract with Los Angeles in the offseason and is considered one of the Rams’ most talented defensive backs.
The Rams may look for another defensive back ahead of the NFL trade deadline on November 10, McVay said.
