Panthers Should Explore Nine Potential Trade Targets

The Carolina Panthers should call about nine players before the NFL trade deadline, including receivers, offensive linemen and defenders, as they look to address roster needs.
A proposed list of trade targets for Carolina includes players at several positions, with the Panthers urged to make inquiries even if they do not ultimately complete a deal. The deadline is approaching, and the team has needs on both sides of the ball.
Indianapolis players Josh Downs, an interested trade candidate, and defensive linemen Josh Sweat and Grover Stewart are among the options. Sweat could help against both the pass and run, while Stewart would add depth to a defense that has struggled to stop opposing ground attacks.
The list also points to offensive line help: New Orleans guard Cesar Ruiz and Philadelphia guard and center Landon Dickerson. Carolina needs upgrades up front, though a deal with the Saints could be complicated by the teams’ proximity in the standings.
Three cornerbacks round out the suggestions: New York’s Sauce Gardner, Philadelphia’s Riq Woolen and the Los Angeles Chargers’ Donte Jackson. Carolina has uncertainty at the position, including Mike Jackson’s contract situation and injury concerns involving Jaycee Horn and Will Lee. Woolen and Donte Jackson are presented as potential fits with connections to Carolina’s coaching staff.
Miami defensive lineman Zach Sieler is another possibility, given Carolina’s poor run defense. The suggested targets are possibilities for the Panthers to investigate; no deals are described as completed.
