Daniel Jones Emerges as Possible Colts Trade Deadline Surprise

On November 4, ESPN analyst Adam Schefter raised the possibility that Indianapolis could trade quarterback Daniel Jones before the NFL deadline. The Colts have already dealt two veterans and are weighing offers for running back Jonathan Taylor.
Daniel Jones could be an unexpected name on the move as Indianapolis reshapes its roster ahead of the NFL trade deadline. ESPN analyst Adam Schefter floated potential interest from the Baltimore Ravens and Minnesota Vikings, while stressing that he was not saying the Colts had decided to trade their quarterback.
Indianapolis has already sent guard Quenton Nelson to Seattle and defensive lineman DeForest Buckner to San Francisco following the firing of general manager Chris Ballard. Taylor and receiver Josh Downs, who has asked to be traded, are also viewed as possible departures. Schefter said the Colts have received offers for Taylor and may wait to see whether teams improve them. The New York Giants are among the clubs rumored to be interested in the running back.
Jones, 29, had a career-best 68 percent completion rate and posted 3,101 passing yards, 19 scoring passes and eight picks across 13 appearances during his first Colts season. A torn Achilles ended that season, but Indianapolis later gave him a two-year, $88 million deal. This year, he has completed 60.4 percent of his passes for 1,542 yards, with five touchdowns and nine interceptions, as the Colts have fallen to 2-6. Coach Shane Steichen said Monday that Jones would remain the starter. Indianapolis hosts Dallas on November 8 after a four-game losing streak that included a 42-7 defeat to Jacksonville.
