Murray’s Hamstring Puts Vikings’ Quarterback Plans in Question

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray is being evaluated for hamstring stiffness before the team hosts the Buffalo Bills on November 9. Coach Kevin O’Connell said his status would be updated as the week progresses.
Murray developed hamstring stiffness during Minnesota’s Week 8 loss to Detroit, leaving his availability for the Vikings’ Monday night matchup with Buffalo uncertain. Coach Kevin O’Connell said the team was conducting a full evaluation and expected to provide more information during the practice week.
The injury comes as Minnesota considers its quarterback options after backup Carson Wentz filled in for Murray earlier this season. Murray left the season opener against Green Bay with a concussion and missed the following game. Wentz started both contests, completing 23 of 39 passes for 276 yards and three touchdowns as the Vikings won twice.
Minnesota scored 39 points with Wentz against Green Bay, its highest total of the season. The team has averaged 18.4 points per game with Murray, who has recorded 170.3 passing yards and 27.8 rushing yards per game, along with 0.8 total touchdowns and 0.5 interceptions per game.
O’Connell has said Murray remains the starter when healthy. Wentz, however, has a 2-0 career record against Buffalo, with 278 passing yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions across those games. His teams outscored the Bills 72-28. Minnesota’s evaluation of Murray will determine which quarterback is in line to face Buffalo.
