Breece Hall Emerges as Vikings Trade Option

The Minnesota Vikings could pursue New York Jets running back Breece Hall before the NFL trade deadline on November 4, as they look for help in the backfield.
Minnesota’s search for a running back could lead to Hall, whose place with the Jets may be affected by the emergence of rookie Braelon Allen. The Vikings have also been linked to Indianapolis Colts star Jonathan Taylor, but Hall could be a less costly alternative if Taylor is unavailable at the right price.
Allen, a 2024 fourth-round draft pick, has topped 100 rushing yards in three of his past four games and has gained an average of five yards on each carry this season. He has also caught 17 passes on 22 targets for 81 yards. His strong play could give New York reason to consider moving Hall, though no trade was confirmed.
Hall, 25, has been sidelined since suffering a groin injury at practice after appearing in the Jets’ first three games. Before his injury, he averaged 3.2 yards per carry and caught all 10 of his targets for 102 yards. He reached 1,000 rushing yards for the first time last season.
Jets offensive coordinator Frank Reich said Tuesday he was assuming Hall would reclaim the starting job when healthy. Hall’s contract carries cap hits of $14.5 million in 2027 and $15.5 million in 2028, with a possible exit between those years that would leave $3 million in dead money.
Minnesota’s running backs have combined for 21 receptions and 132 receiving yards through Week 9. A deal for Hall would give the Vikings a potential longer-term option, rather than only a short-term rental, but the team would need to open discussions with New York before any move could happen.
