Evans, McCaffrey Miss 49ers’ First Week 9 Practice

On November 4, San Francisco 49ers receivers Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel, running back Christian McCaffrey and defensive back Siran Neal were held out of the team’s first Week 9 practice.
The San Francisco 49ers began preparations for their Week 9 game against the Las Vegas Raiders with four players absent from their first practice, including Mike Evans and Christian McCaffrey. Deebo Samuel also missed the session with a hamstring injury, while Siran Neal was listed with knee and foot issues.
Evans has been dealing with Achilles problems since a Week 5 game against the Seattle Seahawks. The injury worsened the following week against Washington, and he sat out the 49ers’ Week 7 game against Atlanta after the team identified Achilles tendinitis. He has now missed two weeks of action.
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Evans had made progress but was not yet healthy enough to return. He said the team would be careful with the recovery and would wait until Evans was ready. Evans’ availability for the Raiders game remains uncertain.
McCaffrey’s absence was less unusual: he has a hamstring injury from the Atlanta game, which he left early in the first half before returning. He typically misses the first practice of the week. The team’s next steps will depend on how his hamstring responds, with Friday practice identified as an important point in assessing his readiness.
The 49ers could face the Raiders without either Evans or McCaffrey. If McCaffrey’s hamstring is not right, the team should hold him out, the report argued.
Players: Mike Evans, Christian McCaffrey, Siran Neal, Deebo Samuel Sr.
