Lions Teammates Send Support After Jack Campbell’s Serious Injury

Detroit Lions players Jared Goff, Aidan Hutchinson and Amon-Ra St. Brown expressed concern for linebacker Jack Campbell after he was seriously injured against the Minnesota Vikings.
Campbell was carted off the field during Detroit’s game against Minnesota. His injury, along with other defensive players leaving the game hurt, weighed heavily on Lions teammates in the days afterward.
Quarterback Jared Goff said on Tuesday that the team had received positive updates and that Campbell’s situation appeared to be moving in the right direction. He described Campbell’s injury as the most frightening among several injuries that could affect players’ seasons.
Defensive end Aidan Hutchinson said the events left him drained and still processing what had happened. He also recalled defensive players D.J. Wonnum and Brian Branch leaving the game. Hutchinson said the Lions would turn their attention to preparing for Miami as they began their game plan.
Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown said he did not have information beyond what the team had shared publicly. He asked people to keep Campbell in their thoughts and prayers, and said seeing him injured made him think of Campbell’s wife and newborn child.
St. Brown said serious injuries can make it difficult to return to the game, but players understand they must finish. He added that the incident put things in perspective and that the team was thinking of Campbell and hoping he continued to recover.
