Colts Say Jonathan Taylor Will Play Against Cowboys if Not Traded
Indianapolis Colts coach Shane Steichen said Jonathan Taylor is expected to play against the Dallas Cowboys on November 8 if he has not been traded first. The running back is drawing interest ahead of the November 10 trade deadline.
Taylor remains part of Indianapolis’ plans for its November 8 game against Dallas unless a trade is completed beforehand. Steichen said the team is dealing with calls from other clubs but expects Taylor to work and compete in the meantime. The coach said Taylor wants to play and help the Colts win.
Indianapolis has lost five of its first eight games and is 2-6 after a 42-7 defeat at Jacksonville. Taylor played 38 snaps in that game, rushing eight times for 23 yards and catching four passes for 24 yards.
Across eight games, Taylor has rushed for 610 yards and eight touchdowns on 148 carries. He has also made 21 catches for 202 yards. Dallas has allowed more rushing yards than any other team this season and also leads the league in yards allowed per carry.
The Vikings, Giants, Broncos and Packers are among the teams said to have interest in Taylor. Indianapolis has turned down a second-round pick. Taylor, 27, signed a two-year, $44 million extension this year; his $15 million base salary for 2027 becomes fully guaranteed in February.
Taylor has not requested a trade and wants to remain with the Colts, though he has acknowledged that his future is outside his control. A deal could still happen before the November 10 deadline.
